Must Read before hiring a painting contractor

Stop...Read before hiring a Painting contractor!!!
Having made the decision to have work done in your home
is a big step. Now even a bigger and more important step is hiring the right contractor. Before calling blindly a company from the phone book or newspaper or flier, check around to see if anyone you know has had similar work done. If you find someone, ask questions. How did they like the experience of that contractor working for them. What did they like or dislike. Word of mouth referrals are the way to go, we love them as contractors, and clients love them because they get quality workmanship. What if you do not have a referral? Not to worry, there are plenty of good quality contractors out there, you just need to know where to look and what to look for. You need a contractor who is serious about the profession. A contractor
who is in for the long term, not in transition from a job. Though there are plenty of good contractors in the phone book or newspaper ads or church bulletin, I say look elsewhere. Elsewhere on-line of course. Go to the major search engines like Goggle, Yahoo and MSN. Type in your hometown and state along with the verbiage paint contractors. Bamm.. you get a huge list. Look for a company that has there own Web page, not a matching contractor service, like servicemagic or bid clerk, ect.. These have some excellent contractors but they make their money by selling your information to at least three or four contactors, some good, some bad. It does add up to a waste of time for the consumer and contractor. By viewing a contactors Web site you get a good feel about the company without any contact. You should be able to see samples of work, history of the company and services offered. They should also offer e-mail for additional information. Web page ownership separates the pros from the hacks! Once someone invests time and money into promoting their business on the Web, it speaks volumes of their intent for the long term. Nothing wrong with running a print ad campaign when starting out. but who then wants to hire a contractor that’s just starting! Our next blog we will continue to discuss how to go about hiring a painting contractor.
